BRC BHS Welfare Conference 29th October 2011
HDRC Hunter Trial 9th October 2011
After a trouble free journey to Hartpury college we quickly find the best place to
park (right next to the toilets, stables and the indoor arena) horses all settled
into there stables (number 13?!) we tucked into our chilli and a few slow gins!
We
wake up bright and early to feed, muck out, plait and remove poo stains. Having walked
the course the night before we took our bacon sandwiches and went to watch the first
few horses. Usual suspects causing problems but we agreed to stick to our plans.
First
up Sarah Grout and Saracen (no 13) after Saracen decides to try and cough his way
out of work he does a lovely positive clear round. 1 down 3 to go! Jo Clarricoats
on lucky next after 20 years away from competing they jump a beautiful round to make
it 2 out of 2. Samantha Morgan on her sisters horse George was next to put in a very
forward going clean round. So the pressure is off me and Paya who could just enjoy
the moment and she did me proud. We were the only team out of the 7 that finished
the first round on clear to have all four scores on 0.
So the course is changed and
we all walk it together looking at a lovely jump off turn hey girls lol. Everybody
started to look a bit more nervous this time round but still Sarah and Saracen rode
a faultless round to get us off to the perfect start, next Jo and lucky put in a
flawless performance to get their first ever double clear ( good timing Jo) sam and
George were up next but George took a disliking to Sam telling him what to do and
he ended on 16faults, so this time the pressure was on me and Paya (the wingman as
Danny calls us) but we didn't have to worry as Paya just did her thing and cleared
everything by a mile so we ended on a final score of 0!
We all meet to look at the
jump off, go off to tack up when Mum (Fran) meets us to tell us some bad news :(
we wouldn't be able to jump in the jump off as we had WON!! Lots of hugs and pats
on the back later we went off to the presentation in the outdoor arena where we were
met with a rug, riding club jacket, hat, new bridle, voucher for some Tri-
I personally would
just like to thank the girls in the team for making my job as chef so easy and enjoyable.
My mum, sarah's parents, Danny Morgan and Nicole for being the best/loudest supporters
there. We couldn't do it without you and your support. Thank you xxx
Team number 13 unlucky for some? Not us!

All 4 jump a lovely positive clear round. 7 teams out of the 27 end first round on 0.
Only we have 4 clears. Sarah and Jo great clears sam unfortunately had a stop and a few time faults. I have to clear which Paya does beautifully. Turns out the other team ended up on 5 faults so we had a jump in hand but we didn't know that at the time. So out of 27 teams we wre the only one to finish on a score of 0. :)
Lovely end to a nice story -
